March 25, 2025Drum Country is proud to announce the release of three new videos showcasing the region’s booming agribusiness, manufacturing, and tourism industries!
These videos put a spotlight on the many local advantages that enable these sectors to thrive in Drum Country, which include the region’s strategic location, skilled workforce and strong local infrastructure.
Key Local Industries Highlighted in This Series:
Agribusiness
There are many reasons agricultural businesses grow strong in Drum Country, including its rich soil, favorable climate, and strong community support for farmers and producers of all kinds. Drum Country’s new Agribusiness video highlights this fact by featuring several locally-operated businesses, including Black River Valley Natural, HP Hood and Twin Mill Farms.
Each interviewee shares their own perspective on how Drum Country provides agribusinesses the space, tools and resources they need to thrive, from ample grant opportunities to easy access to some of the largest North American markets just across the river in Canada.
Another major reason for Drum Country’s multi-sector success is Fort Drum, which brings a constant influx of military personnel and their families to the region from around the world. Once their service ends, many military families choose to stay in the area, becoming valued employees for local businesses as well as entrepreneurs bringing fresh, new ideas to local communities.
Manufacturing
Additionally, the region’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and strong infrastructure have made Drum Country a hub for manufacturing businesses both large and small. Drum Country’s new video emphasizes how the region’s abundant infrastructure provides a secure foundation on which local businesses can build, featuring insights from Grand Slam Safety, Alcoa and The Lawman Group.
Notably, manufacturers enjoy nearly unlimited shipping routes throughout the region, including easy access to major highways as well as ample commercial railways and further distribution through the Port of Ogdensburg and the Watertown International Airport. Plus, alternative energy projects such as hydropower and wind farms allow local businesses to keep costs down while still delivering a high-quality end product to their customers.
Tourism
With its scenic landscapes, historical sites, and vibrant cultural scene, Drum Country attracts visitors of many interests from around the globe. As such, many businesses serving tourists have evolved to meet this increased demand, including the three featured in Drum Country’s new tourism video: Tug Hill Estate, The Sherman Inn and Old McDonald’s Farm.
While showcasing some of the area’s major activities, events and attractions, this video also touches on the many regional aspects that support the growth of local businesses. Beyond a welcoming community atmosphere and an active economic development network, Drum Country benefits from a steady stream of new residents and visitors from Fort Drum, allowing our industries ample opportunities to engage new customers and potential employees alike.
